My aim is always to be an approachable person for young people to talk to. I know how daunting it can be to speak to a health professional, and my core focus in initial sessions is to reduce the stigma around help seeking, and ensure the young person is comfortable, trusts me, and is open to ongoing support.

What You Can Expect
Who I work with
I support young people, typically aged between 7-25, offering in-person sessions at home for those in Hawke’s Bay and online sessions for clients across New Zealand.
Confidentiality
Confidentiality is clearly explained to the young person in our initial session, with parent involvement and feedback varying, dependent on the situation. I am aware parents often want feedback, I am transparent in my approach with the young person in explaining this, while at all times prioritising confidentiality.
The first session
I encourage you to look at this session as a way for us to know each other, and for you to decide if I am the best fit for your child. Depending on the age and the need, I will often meet with the parent and young person together for the first part of the session, then if they are comfortable, I will ask the parent to leave around half way through. I am flexible in my initial sessions, as it’s not a one size fits all approach, and will be guided by you and your whanau.
